About The Company
Aldateateret is a partnership between the two actresses Jeanette M. Kjær and Idun Losnegård and the playwright Rolf Losnegård with an international pool of actors. We predominantly produce new writing.
As we have all grown up in the west of Norway, in the shadow of the landmark mountain Alden, it was natural for us to use this as an inspiration for our company.
On the top of Alden, 480m above the water, we throw a rock down in a small cleft that divides the mountain in two. With childish wonder we listen to the rock falling from cliff to cliff till it lands with a splash. Did it hit a hidden lake? Or did it hit the sea through a secret cave? And everytime we throw it is a new experience, new sounds, new echos, a longer or shorter time before the rock hits the inner ocean.
We approach each play afresh, and follow it on its journey until it eventually splashes into its audience. We are open to any and all theatrical techniques that help tell the story, and are not limited by theatrical convention. We enjoy incorporating other artistic disciplines into our work, and are excited by site specific and outdoor theatre.
