On the Day of the Raven By Rolf Losnegård A historical drama about a natural disaster in Gulen, on the coast of Norway, on the 11th of March, 1882, which resulted in several hundred people drowning. Avald, an old wise man, warns the village that they musn't go to sea when the ravens cry and fly low to the water, but the fishing is very good and Kristoffer, the village's leading merchant - effectively its ruler – convinces the fishermen to go out regardless. Bernhard, a young man heavily indebted to Kristoffer, laughs at Avald's advice and rallies the other fishermen to work. Bernhard's secret girlfriend, Kristina, is apprehensive, but unsure. Their son, meanwhile, has stowed away on Bernhard's ship. To be staged at Skjerjehamn, an former fishing village, in Gulen in August 2011. Produced by AOF (the Workers' Union) and Aldateateret |
